The Plainedge Board of Education consists of seven residents who are elected by the people and serve without salary for three-year terms of office.

While Business Meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of each month at 8 p.m. (from September to June, located in the Innovation Learning Center (ILC) in the west wing of Plainedge High School), and Public Work Sessions are generally held on the Tuesday preceding the Business Meeting. As you will see in the pages that follow, there are some months where Public Work Sessions and Business Meetings fall on the same day, whereas in others, they are separated out as noted above.

During both our Public Work Sessions and Business Meetings, we look to highlight student/staff achievements, as well as provide in-depth presentations on the district’s educational programs and services. These meetings strive to provide a clear picture of what is going on in the district. Our meetings also give community residents an opportunity to comment or ask questions related to our schools and programs. There is always an opportunity for public participation during our meetings, and residents are encouraged to attend.

The agenda and minutes of Public Work Sessions and Business Meetings are posted on the district's website.

Please call the District Clerk’s Office (516-992-7457) should you need more information about school board meetings.
