Below are links to the state rubrics that are used to assess each of the four regents tasks that are required to complete the English Regents exam.
REMINDER: The English regents exam is a two day, six hour test. Day one consists of: Task I (listening comprehension,
note-taking, multiple-choice questions, and an essay) Task II (reading comprehension of
a passage and a graph/chart/timeline, multiple-choice questions, and an
essay) Day two consists of: Task III* (reading comprehension of a passage and a
poem, creating a controlling idea, multiple-choice questions, and an essay) Task IV* (interpreting a critical lens quote and
writing an essay) *You MUST include literary elements on both essays for
day two! REMINDER: You will be graded on the rubrics shown above, on a scale of 1-6, based on
five areas. They are: Meaning - understanding, interpretation, analysis of
the task Development - elaboration using specific information
from the texts Organization - direction, shape, and coherence of the
response Language Use - awareness of audience and purpose
through effective words, sentence structure, and sentence variety
Conventions - spelling, punctuation, paragraphing, capitalization, grammar, and usage
