MY EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY It is my intention to help the students achieve academic success by incorporating character education within their daily lives. Successful learning cannot be achieved without recognizing the need to respect, cooperate, tolerate, and accept one another. I strive to help each student enhance their lives by implementing these important traits. When this goal is achieved, the need for discipline is drastically reduced and learning in the classroom is easier. |

My name is Jenny Avgeris and this is my 7th year teaching third grade at John H. West Elementary. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from C.W. Post/Long Island University and a Master's Degree in Literacy Studies from Hofstra University. Plainedge is truly a fantastic community!!! I graduated from Plainedge High School in 1986. When my husband and I were searching for our first home, we decided to stay in Plainedge. My children, Alex and Liana, were students at John H. West until we moved in 2001. Soon after, I decided to come back to Plainedge as a teacher in order to encourage and motivate my students just as my teachers had when I was a student here! |
