Challenge Activities

When your homework is through and you want something to do,
pick from the chart and you'll be off to a great start.

These are optional activities.  If you choose to do some, bring them in to be shared during snack time.

 

 

 

Read

  • a poem or two

  • an easy chapter book

  • a non-fiction book on your level

  • a book to someone else

  • several books by one author and choose activities for an author study

Make

  • a map of your home

  • a bookmark

  • a book jacket for a book

  • a collage of your favorite things

  • a cartoon

  • a word puzzle using sight words or spelling words

  • a word search using sight words or spelling words

  • a book of new words you've learned, include definitions and illustrations

 


Write

  • a letter to someone

  • a poem about a friend

  • a list book about your favorite things

  • five addition math stories

  • a story using as many sight words or spelling words as you can

  • a book review

  • write a song about a book

  • be a TV reporter and give a report of a scene from the book as if it is happening "live"

  • make a mini book about a story

Design

  • a magazine or newspaper cover about a story you have read

  • design a mobile about a story

  • an award for a classmate or friend

  • a diorama about a book you have read

  • the perfect reading place

  • a puppet
