Speech and Language ProgramS

The Speech and Language Services in the Plainedge School District are comprised of two programs:

    Mandated Speech and Language Services

This program is provided for those students who have been classified through the Committee on Special Education (CSE) to receive speech and language services.  The criteria for entrance and exit into and out of this program is mandated by the State.

    RUNNING START Speech Language improvement program 

       (rUNNING START pROGRAM)

This program is developed for those students who are demonstrating difficulties producing speech sounds or utilizing language skills to communicate successfully but do not warrant or qualify to be classified under Special Education.  This program is available for students in Kindergarten as a pull out service.  An indirect consultation model is provided for students in the first, second third, fourth, and fifth grade.
