  Individualized Education Program (IEP)

  Speech and Language Disorder

  Mandate:  The specified frequency, duration and student to therapist ratio of the service to be provided.  For example:  A mandate of 2 X 30, 5:1 means that the student will receive services 2 times weekly for thirty minutes per session with no more than 5 students to one therapist.

  Least Restrictive Environment (LRE):  This term places children with special needs to be educated in the most integrated setting used by children who do not have special needs.

  Inclusion:  The integration of children with special needs into regular classrooms with children who do not have special needs during the entire school day.  Related services and supports are provided on a pull-out and push-in basis.

Related Services:  Any service that will help a child benefit from his or her special education.  These are non-instructional services, which are necessary for a child to learn.  These services include but are not limited to:  Speech and Language Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Transportation, etc.

Push-in Services: This delivery model of speech and language service is provided within the student's classroom.  

  Pull-out Services:  This delivery model of speech and language service is provided outside of the classroom.

 

Indirect Consultation:  This delivery model of speech and language service is provided on an as needed basis between the classroom teacher and the school speech and language therapist.
