About
the Class

My Philosophy
I believe that all children can succeed in mathematics
with the proper environment. This environment needs to be nurturing,
enriching, and non-threatening. My classroom meets these needs through the
use of cooperative grouping, challenging and probing questions and problems, and
extensive use of language through written and spoken word.
Attendance/Punctuality
Students are expected to arrive on time for each
class. Absence from a class for any reason does not excuse a student from his/her
responsibility for class work and homework. Students are expected to show the
teacher the assignment no later than the day after he/she returns to school. If a student
is absent the day of an exam, he/she is expected to take the exam upon returning to class.
Assessment
The
student's final quarter average will be a representation of academic performance
in class. Tests, quizzes and homework will be used to determine
the final quarter grade. The final quarter grade is broken down as follows:
55% tests, 35% quizzes and 10% homework.
Homework
Homework will be assigned on a regular basis.
Assignments should be written in the planner and completed in the student's math
notebook. All problems and solutions should be written out in a clear and
organized fashion. A list of answers is not acceptable. Homework
will be checked daily and will count for 10% of the quarter grade.
Extra
help
Extra
help is available to any student who has shown an honest effort in class and has
completed his/her homework to the best of his/her ability.
