No Smoking

Lungs At Work

On Monday, October 22nd, Schwarting had another wonderful ‘Arts in Education’ program brought in for our students by our PTA.

Chip Bryant, a registered nurse and graduate of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey’s Clown College, performed as comical character “Nurse Know”.

“Nurse Know” educated our children about the hazards of smoking tobacco. The children were told and ‘shown’ what cigarettes really are and how they are not ‘cool’.    The show incorporated magic, juggling, mime, puppetry, music and audience participation to teach content derived from the American Lung Association. Our children learned about their respiratory anatomy and physiology, and about making healthy life style choices. The students of Schwarting also were taught to avoid making destructive decisions and to just say ‘No’ to Peer pressure issues as well.  The PTA once again thanks the ‘Arts in Education’ committee consisting of Shelly Brennan, Susan Faber and Hilary Simeone for another wonderful program.
