Soldiers In Iraq Thank Us
For Our Support
Read Lt. McNealy's letter to Schwarting thanking us for raising the soldiers' morale with care packages from Schwarting.
Mrs. Levitan, Ms. Wilding and Mrs. Yarmeisch,
I have been in touch with Melissa Marshall and let I her know that we received your packages a few days ago. I wanted to thank you personally for what your school did for our unit. As you may already know, here at Camp Delta we don't have much access to markets or post exchange stores. We rely mostly on what is sent to us in care packages from home. My unit was excited to receive so many things that we needed. We actually had to build shelves in our storage room to keep all of the new items. We shared some things with other units on the FOB who don’t get much as well. Attached you will find some pictures of the platoon opening the packages and some other pictures of us relaxing and having fun.
As a platoon we are doing well and coming together as a team. We are still running 24 hour operations and maintaining the communications network for the subscribers we support. We had a promotion ceremony on New Years. Two of our soldiers were promoted to their next highest rank and we had a big barbecue. Our commander and executive officer were here visiting as well. We had a great Christmas. You can see our tree in one of the pictures. For Christmas dinner in the DFAC we had ham, turkey, stuffing, shrimp cocktail, and eggnog among other things. There were a lot of decorations including a 6 foot tall fountain so we made it as nice as possible.
It's amazing what an impact mail and contact from folks at home has on soldiers' morale. I can't express enough how much this meant to us. Thanks again for all the support.
