On December 2nd, 2008, the Schwarting PTA featured singer/songwriter, Patricia Shih, in a program that was tailored for our School called ‘Best of Big Ideas’. This program was brought to Schwarting while our students, faculty and parents were working on two community service programs, the food and coat drive. Topics covered in this concert included doing for others, appreciation, gratitude and self-esteem. Singing, guitar, hand percussion, sign language and audience participation made this concert fun for our Schwarting students and faculty as well. Patricia Shih also presented special certificates to Schwarting because Schwarting made a difference for others, in a positive way.
Patricia Shih has written over 250 songs. She performs for audiences of all ages and has appeared on TV and radio, in clubs, concerts, schools, libraries, and in major music festivals.
She tours internationally with her band and has recorded four albums. She starred for a year on cable TV’s “Tell me a Story” on the Extra Help Channel. In 2004, she was honored with the Woman of Distinction Award.
