The 4th grade students at Schwarting were immersed in an Enrichment unit of study about the Native Americans known as the Iroquois or Haudenosaunee people. The students learned about the Iroquois Confederacy through comprehensive, hands-on lessons about the culture and living environment of the Iroquois nations. These lessons culminated into the creations of replica artifacts using only natural resources the way the Natives created their artifacts!! The 4th graders then taught what they had learned to the 3rd grade students.
One enthusiastic student was so inspired by the unit that she created her own natural resource project at home. For all her efforts, she presented her longhouse to the Kindergarteners! Top notch work 4th graders!!!
