Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter the month of February, I hope that you and your children continue to enjoy this cold weather by doing lots of fun family activities indoors.  We have been enjoying our indoor recess days at school and are thankful to our wonderful PTA who has provided us with so many games and activities for our children to play with.  However, we do encourage outdoor play as long as the weather permits.  As a reminder, on days where the temperature is above 32 degrees (and there is no snow on the ground), the children will be going out to play, so please remember to send in gloves, hats, and warm coats.

As we continue moving forward through the 2011- 2012 school year, I would like to remind you of some important procedures that make our school environment safe.  As you all know, the arrival and dismissal of 520 students is a great endeavor.  We cannot ensure the safety of this process without your help.  Please continue to be courteous when parking, dropping off and picking up your children.  We would also greatly appreciate it if you would refrain from parking in the ‘no parking zone’ on Jerusalem Avenue as this is a huge safety issue for our students who are crossing this busy street.  In addition, please do not double-park in our parking lot as it is causing an issue during both drop-off and pick-up.  If you plan on getting out of your car, please find a spot in the lot or on our local streets to meet your child(ren).

On a similar note, the road in the front of our school (Flower Road) is not for use throughout the day for pick-up and/or drop-off.  We have buses that transport our children throughout the day and this road must be accessible for their use.  I greatly appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to continuous improvement throughout the remainder of the school year.

I would also like to remind you of our February school closings so that you can make appropriate arrangements for childcare and family fun.  From Monday, February 20^th, through Friday, February 24^th we have our February recess and school will be closed.  We hope that you enjoy good times with your children and we look forward to seeing them back at school on Monday, February 27^th.
