Welcome to my website! As many of you know, music is my focus. General music, the Third Grade Recorders, the Primary Chorus, and the Senior Chorus are my areas. To expose you to all types of music is to add a special beat to your emotional, intellectual, and social lives. To see you  sing or play an instrument for the first time is to experience a reward beyond measure.

   Before coming to Schwarting in 2001, I taught music in Queens for three years in a middle school. I finished my MA in vocal music at the Manhattan School of Music. Although those events are important, my biggest decision was coming to the United States in 1993 from South Korea. My plan was to earn a degree and return home, but as you know, life has a way of changing our plans.

   My plans were upset by a man. While studying at Julliard, I met a kind teacher who helped me with my writing. I did not know that I would marry him a year later. My husband, Virgil, and I just celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary. Like me, Virgil is a teacher. We are lucky to spend our summer vacations together. Over the years, my family moved to New York City from Seoul.  My two sisters also studied music and work with children in schools. We are living the American dream.

     With that in mind, I am grateful to live and teach in this wonderful country. I will do my best for all of you. Yes, we work hard, especially whenever we have a concert, but the results will amaze you. There is nothing more beautiful than children singing or playing instruments with all of their hearts.
