Read Across America

On March 1, 2002 we celebrated "Read Across America Day" with great success.  As a school we spent the day engulfed in literary activities.

The day began with the Whovilles competed against the Westvilles in a school wide trivia competition.  We celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with a cake and a special reading by Mr. Faust of Oh the Places You Will Go.

The spirit continued throughout the day with an emphasis on the joy of reading.  Children dressed as their favorite book characters, guest readers shared their favorite books and "snacks" with the classes and younger and older grades paired as reading buddies.

Our cafeteria staff even prepared an extraordinary "brunch" of Green Eggs and Ham!!  We had a great day celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday and most importantly celebrating the joy of reading!
