Using the scientific method, fourth grade students guided by their teachers and parents, each developed a science experiment to investigate an original question. For example, one student conducted research to determine whether people remember color pictures better than black and white pictures. Another student conducted research to learn which cereal becomes soggy the quickest once milk is added to the bowl. Students created visuals to share their questions, hypothesis, observations, research, and conclusions during the John H. West Science Fair on June 6th. In addition, many fourth grade scientists also shared a hands-on experiment with visitors to help them learn too. Parents, grandparents, special friends, and other John H. West classes and teachers were amazed at the students' outstanding projects. Preparing for the science fair helped the students meet and exceed many Science and Language Arts NYS Standards, and as you will in the pictures below they also had a great time!!
