First Grade Trip
Long Island Children's Museum

On May 11th, 2004, the first grade classes at John H. West went on field trip to the Long Island Children's Museum.  The children learned many facts about nature and science.  A few of the exhibits that they saw were how a wave is made, how we get sand, music and sound in our everyday lives, patterns that are all around us and lastly, the different ways in which people with a handicap survive and live their daily lives  without the use of their five senses.  It is a hands-on learning experience for the children and a place that keeps the children coming back with their parents to learn more about the world around them.
