A Message from Superintendent Edward Salina
Plainedge schools are in the home stretch of the 2022-2023 school year. It has been a busy spring for us! I want to start by thanking the Plainedge Community for supporting the budget.
We would also like to highlight some exciting news: Plainedge Public Schools is excited to announce that all five school buildings have received an International Designation of a School with Promising Practices of Character. This designation was awarded to only 177 schools worldwide. Only 9 schools from New York received this designation, and Plainedge represented 5 out of those 9 schools. We are the only district on Long Island that received the Promising Practice Award for 2023.
Some of the events included holding our annual Law Enforcement and First Responder Day, where we celebrate the brave men and women who work to keep our community safe each and every day. We also held a wildly popular family STEAM night that was attended by over 700 people and held our annual Plainedge Pride Day.
Our commitment to all students’ achieving was also highlighted by our Unified basketball team once again bringing home the Section VII championship and Plainedge being named the host of the 2024 Spring Special Olympics.
I want to thank all of the parents, teachers, and community members who have supported our students throughout this school year and who have helped every one of our students achieve this year.
