I am happy and proud to announce that two of our schools,
John H. West Elementary School and Plainedge Middle School were designated as State Schools of Character. There are 87 schools out of 228 worldwide that received this award of distinction. Only three schools in
New York State were on that list, and two of those were Plainedge schools. We have been recognized for developing and implementing an intentional, proactive, and comprehensive approach that embeds character in all aspects of school life. By empowering both students and staff and molding the complete student experience through our core values, we have earned acknowledgment for our commitment to character development.
Plainedge High School, Charles E. Schwarting Elementary School, and Eastplain Elementary School received Honorable Mentions and look forward to being recognized as State Schools of Character in the future.
Congratulations to our entire school community for their significant contributions to the education and exceptional character development of our students. Your commitment and efforts have played a crucial role in shaping the outstanding character of our students.
Please stay tuned for more information inĀ our upcoming district newsletter regarding this amazing accomplishment.
Sincerely,
Edward A. Salina
