COVID Update - March 10, 2020

Dear Staff, Parents & Guardians:

The new COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to dominate the headlines in the news and newspapers. We have had a few inquiries from our parents related to how they might talk with their children about the new virus so they might understand what the potential impact is to them as children and the world we live in today. Today I received an excellent parent guide written by the National Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of School Nurses entitled, “Talking to Children About COVID-19 (Coronavirus) A Parent Resource.” Please review the attached document.

We realize that all the information circulating around in the news is concerning, but we believe the best way to address your child’s (children’s) concern is with open and honest conversations about this recent epidemic. This document answers many questions about the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and should be a great guide for our parents and staff to speak with our children.

As always, we appreciate your support and collaboration to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, staff and families.

Sincerely,
Edward A. Salina, Jr., Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools
