Senior Citizen Gold Card Program

It is with great pleasure and excitement that the Plainedge School District announces its Senior Citizen’s “Gold Card” program.

It is our way of saying thank you for your support of our schools. All residents of the Plainedge School District who are 60 years of age or over are eligible for membership in the Gold Card program. Upon receipt of a completed membership form, Seniors will receive a Gold Card in the mail within a few days. Please show the pass when entering a Plainedge Schools event.

Gold Card members receive:

  • Free admission to District-sponsored activities and events, including regular-season home athletic events and concerts.
  • Invitation to a special matinee performance of the high school musical in the Spring as well as a reception before the show.
  • A private tour of the District Art Show, which showcases the very best artwork produced by our students throughout the year.

For events which require reserved tickets because of limited seating capacity, Gold Cards may be used to acquire one ticket in advance of the performance date. We have other events in the planning stage, so if you are interested in knowing what we have in store, or if you have suggestions or want to join our advisory board, please sign up! Senior Citizens on the Gold Card mailing list also receive special mailings to stay informed about the events available in the Plainedge Public School District.

For more information, please visit our website at www.plainedgeschools.org or call our district offices at (516) 992-7457. The application is available on our website and may also be obtained from us by emailing goldcard@plainedgeschools.org. All completed forms may be delivered in person to Central Administration, Office of the Superintendent, 241 Wyngate Dr., N. Massapequa, to our District Clerk, Maureen Ryan with appropriate ID presented or you can choose to mail it in with a copy of your proof of age.

Earlier this week our Plainedge STEAM Team hosted a special opportunity for many PreK-Grade 5 families to experience a virtual field trip to the @txstateaquarium. Families interacted with an aquarium instructor and a scuba diver who helped the audience discover the skills we use every day to care for our animals and learn how you can help conserve coral reefs.

A special thank you to Plainedge High School students who performed two sing-along songs from The Little Mermaid!

Our Plainedge Best Buddies Program was incredibly fortunate to receive a donation of media space on three Times Square billboards yesterday! To celebrate this exciting opportunity, we organized a viewing party in the pedestrian plaza across from the digital screens. Best Buddies students, staff, and parents all gathered in the heart of the city to watch the billboards in action. It was an unforgettable experience that brought our community together and showcased the importance of inclusion and friendship.

Thank you, Best Buddies Advisors Naomi Knee and Amy Bernard.
Special Education Directors Bridget Murphy & Nicole Duffy, Superintendent Dr. Edward Salina, Plainedge Administration, and the Board of Education for their continued support of this incredible program.
Special thank you to Mr.White for creating the spectacular interactive digital videos displayed on the billboards!

On behalf of Plainedge Public Schools and the Board of Education, we want to recognize all veterans in our community with gratitude for your service to America. We honor you. We support you. Happy Veterans Day!#WeArePlainedge. ❤️
🏀 The Harlem Wizards visited Plainedge this week and it was an unforgettable night for our community! Thank you to everyone who came to support the PFT Wizards fundraiser event. Plainedge High School hosted a sold-out crowd, and thousands of dollars were raised to support the PFT and PTA college scholarship funds. In addition to the scholarship funds, we also raised hundreds of dollars for our homegrown childhood cancer support charity, Vinny’s Army. If you were unable to attend this year's fundraiser, the Wizards will be back in Plainedge next Fall!!
