College Planning
Post high school planning is an important part of what we do in the guidance office. In this section you will find a wealth of information to help you through this process. We have compiled; college guides, college application forms needed, lists of resources, past presentations and useful websites. However, guidance counselors are always available to guide you through and help you with the college preparation and application process.

Visit the Plainedge Support Services Website – college and career section – for more detailed information related to the college planning process: SAT and ACT, virtual college visit information, essay writing tips, and more.
PLAINEDGE GUIDANCE APPLICATION TRACKING FORM
Please complete this tracking form for all colleges you apply to. This form officially informs your counselor of where and how you applied to your colleges. Once received, your counselor can upload the required school documents to your college. Please note that if this form is not completed, no documents will be sent from PHS.
Grade 11 College Planning Night Presentation – The following presentation is a help guide to the college process.
College and Career Planning Guide – This is a comprehensive guide detailing useful information about the college process. Parents and students have the opportunity to review this guide with their guidance counselor during individual Junior conferences beginning in February of your 11th grade year.
College Forms
The following forms are needed for the college application process. These forms are discussed and reviewed with parents and students during individual junior conferences beginning in February of your 11th grade year.
- Parent Brag Sheet – The Parent Brag Sheet is used by your guidance counselor to help him or her write a letter of recommendation that reflects your students’ personality, accomplishments, and personal circumstances from a parents’ point of view. It gives counselors more insight.
- Senior Questionnaire – The Senior Questionnaire is used by your guidance counselor to help him or her write a letter of recommendation that reflects your personality, accomplishments, and personal circumstances from a students’ point of view. It gives counselors more insight.
- Transcript Release Form – This form needs to be completed and signed to start the college application process.
- Personal Profile Template – Use this template to help assist you in completing a student resume. Sample Resume/Personal Profile
College Research Websites
- Naviance Student – a web based service designed especially for students and parents that can be used to help in making decisions about courses, colleges and careers. Students must log on using their Google accounts. Parents can select link above for access.
- BigFuture – BigFuture is College Board’s free college planning tool, designed to support students from their first thoughts about college to their first day on campus. BigFuture will help students: Handle the college planning process.
- CollegeNet – a site for finding colleges, scholarships and financial aid, touring campuses virtually, and completing applications online, with links to related information.
- Campus Tours – a source for virtual college tours, with interactive campus maps, videos, photographs and live cameras.
- CollegeView – profiles of more than 3,700 colleges and universities, virtual tours of hundreds of schools, career planning tools, financial information and even advice in packing for college, and student blogs.
- College Board Online – a directory of services, including online SAT registration.
- College Trips & Tips – helps parents and students plan successful and rewarding college visits by offering curated and concise advice – saving hours of research. Get site to plan your college visits.
- Peterson’s Education & Career Center – information on private schools, colleges and universities, graduate study, careers and jobs throughout the United States and abroad.
- Princeton Review – advice and tools for choosing a college, graduate school, or career with in depth information on business, law and medicine.
- U.S. News online Colleges & Careers Center – “best value” rankings of colleges and graduate programs in multiple fields, with related information on careers and financial aid

Her deep love for its students, faculty, staff, and community is why she answered the call to serve once again.
