COVID Update - July 11, 2020

Dear Plainedge Families and Staff,

I hope this letter finds you all staying safe and feeling well. With the close of the 2019-20 school year, please know that the hard work and tremendous efforts of our students, staff, and families during the last four months has made me truly proud and so thankful to be part of the Plainedge School District. I am awe-inspired by the ways in which our school community came together, supported one another, and persevered through the many challenges of the pandemic.

COVID Update - May 4, 2020

To My Plainedge Family,

As a follow-up to my last Community Update, Governor Cuomo announced that all schools in New York State (NYS) will be closed for the remainder of the 2019/20 School Year.

On May 15, 2020, regions of NYS will enter the Governor's "Phase I," of the Reopening of New York Program (there are 4 phases). Not all regions of the state will reopen until they meet the State’s new requirements. It is our understanding that Nassau County is not planning to enter Phase I on May 15, 2020. We do know that schools reopening are in the final phase, “Phase IV.”

This latest executive order mandates that we will now be closed through April 15th, which falls during our originally scheduled spring recess.

While at this time, there are no known cases of COVID-19 in any of the schools or facilities of the Plainedge School District, we understand the last several weeks have been extremely challenging and stressful for our community.
