STREAM Arcade Night Inspires Creativity and Collaboration

Plainedge families enjoyed an exciting evening at the STREAM Arcade on Monday. The event brought together students, families, and teachers for a night of hands-on learning and fun. Our innovative fifth graders worked hard to engineer their own arcade games, which they proudly presented to younger elementary students. The younger students had the opportunity to play the creative games, ask questions, and learn about the design process behind each project. The energy in the room was lively, with students cheering each other on and celebrating each successful game.
Using everyday materials like cardboard, plastic cups, rubber bands, and marbles, students designed and built arcade-style games including skeeball, hover hockey, “Shoot Your Shot”, and more. Each game challenged players to use problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity. The event showcased the students' ability to transform simple items into engaging, interactive experiences, demonstrating the principles of science, technology, engineering, art, and math in action.
