Earlier this week our Plainedge STEAM Team hosted a special opportunity for many PreK-Grade 5 families to experience a virtual field trip to the @txstateaquarium. Families interacted with an aquarium instructor and a scuba diver who helped the audience discover the skills we use every day to care for our animals and learn how you can help conserve coral reefs.
A special thank you to Plainedge High School students who performed two sing-along songs from The Little Mermaid!

Both the Plainedge PTA’s and High School Key Club worked together to collect donations and assemble “soldier sacks” to support a fundraiser for children at NYU Langone Cancer Center. The Soldier sacks will be distributed to kids in Mineola and the In-Patient Pediatric Unit at NYU Langone @ Winthrop. The purpose of these backpacks is to help the children stay entertained while they receive their treatments. Over 100 “Soldier Sacks” filled with Uno cards, crossword puzzles, coloring books with markers, stress balls, and playing cards were packed to support children from ages 3 to 18 years.

The District Fall Art Show was a fantastic event filled with creativity and inspiration. Our Plainedge Best Buddies Program was incredibly fortunate to receive a donation of media space on three Times Square billboards yesterday! To celebrate this exciting opportunity, we organized a viewing party in the pedestrian plaza across from the digital screens. Best Buddies students, staff, and parents all gathered in the heart of the city to watch the billboards in action. It was an unforgettable experience that brought our community together and showcased the importance of inclusion and friendship.

The third Thursday of November is designated by the @AmericanCancerSociety as the "Great American Smokeout "Plainedge High Schools SADD Club hosted a Pledge Drive today raising awareness about the health risks connected to tobacco use. Students had the opportunity to make a lifelong commitment to be tobacco-free.

🏀 The Harlem Wizards visited Plainedge this week and it was an unforgettable night for our community! Thank you to everyone who came to support the PFT Wizards fundraiser event. Plainedge High School hosted a sold-out crowd, and thousands of dollars were raised to support the PFT and PTA college scholarship funds. In addition to the scholarship funds, we also raised hundreds of dollars for our homegrown childhood cancer support charity, Vinny’s Army. If you were unable to attend this year`s fundraiser, the Wizards will be back in Plainedge next Fall!!
